Nedbank Cup quarterfinal predictions.

The Nedbank Cup quarterfinals are taking place this weekend, with all eight teams looking to advance to the semi-finals.

Dstv Premiership champions, Mamelodi Sundowns are chasing a possible treble, while Orlando Pirates are looking to lift their second trophy of the season.

Kaizer Chiefs are presented with their last chance to earn some silverware, while Dondol Stars are hoping for a fairy tale run to the final.

Chippa United are facing possible relegation, and they would love nothing than to bow out with a bang if push comes to shove.

The coaches have spoken, the battle lines have been drawn and the troops are fully armed and ready!

But the big question is, who will make it through to the semi-finals?

This publication consulted their trusted football sangoma, whom for safety reasons, has to remain anonymous!

Dondol Stars vs Orlando Pirates:

This one is a definite Pirates victory. A motivated Dondol will put up a brave fight, but that is all there will be to it.

Bucs will show their experience and put the third tiers to the sword.

Stellenbosch FC vs Mamelodi Sundowns:

Our sangoma's bones point to a Sundowns win at Athlone Stadium.

As is the norm, Sundowns will dominate the ball, play with more intensity than they have been doing in their last three league matches, and create high quality chances which they will convert into goals.

According to our sangoma's bones, Downs will win this one with more than one goal, despite some determined efforts from Stellenbosch.

Chippa United vs Sekhukhune United:

Our sangoma foresees a not so exciting encounter between these two sides.

According to the bones, Sekhukhune will have a slight advantage when it comes to controlling possession, create the better chances and score a goal or two to win the match.

But if you are looking for cutting edge cup football in this match, sorry to disappoint you.

Just know that Sekhukhune will win, end of story.

Royal AM vs Kaizer Chiefs:

According to our sangoma, this is going to be the most exciting match of the lot.

Just to paint a vivid picture, when it comes to ball possession, it will be almost 50/50.

In terms of goal mouth action, Chiefs will create the better chances, and put Royal AM's defence under all sorts of pressure.

As for Thwihli Thwahla, they will play well, up until the final third where they will run out of ideas to break down the Chiefs defence.

According to the bones, history will be made as Chiefs win their first match against Royal AM at Chartsworth.

Jubilation for Arthur Zwane, disappointment for John Maduka.

Just a recap of teams that will be in the semi-finals:

1) Orlando Pirates

2) Mamelodi Sundowns

3) Sekhukhune United

4) Kaizer Chiefs

Riveiro emphasizes the importance of team work ahead of Dondol clash.

Orlando Pirates will take on Dondol Stars on Saturday 15 April at Peter Mokaba Stadium in a much anticipated Nedbank Cup quarterfinal.

The match will kickoff at 15:00.

Dondol have already claimed the scalps of two Dstv Premiership sides in SuperSport United and AmaZulu FC en route to the last 8, and they will have their sights firmly set on Pirates on Saturday with a hope of claiming their most famous victory to date.

But it won't be easy for the third tier side, with Pirates currently on a good vein of form.

In the league, Amabhakaniya are on a four match winning run that has seen them climb to the second spot, having scored an impressive nine goals, with just one conceded.

Their head coach, Jose Riveiro has praised the importance of the collective effort in his side's good season so far, with the MTN8 trophy already safe in their cabinet, and the hunt for the Nedbank Cup looking promising.

"It is a collective sport," said Riveiro as quoted by iDiski Times ahead of his side's Nedbank Cup match against Dondol Stars. https://www.idiskitimes.co.za/nedbank-cup/riveiro-grateful-for-lorch-return-for-season-finale/

"It’s important that everybody understands the different roles that we are giving to the players in our structure in every game plan.

"I’m really happy to be part of the group, to have the opportunity to work with such quality players. Versatile players as well, ready to modify their roles in the game – sometimes to sacrifice things as well.

"And that’s the important thing that everybody understand that when the collective is shining, there are looking [like] better players, better coaches.

"We are in that stage, so we really want to have all of our quality players to perform and we love that Thembinkosi made it to be part of the group in the last part of the season and he’s been very important for all of us – like every other player before.

"I think we managed through the season to be competitive, it doesn’t matter who was available for selection, I think Pirates were a competitive team throughout the season.

"Fortunately now we are also in a good moment with regards to our injuries and we have almost all of our players available."

Opinion: Ofori has every reason to believe Bucs can compete in Africa.
